Today, I hosted Thanksgiving dinner at my house for the first time ever. This was not a friends pot luck… no… this was my Thanksgiving, with the guy I love most in the world, my parents, and two (out of the four) closest friends in my life and their newborn baby. I am so thankful that I was able to do this. My turkey was delicious, my mini-cupcake-apple-pies were delicious, my pumpkin pie was BANGIN. Also, to my mom, thanks for all the [Click Comments To Continue]

Today’s recipe of awesomeness is brought to you by Ken, who heard that I was doing guest posts all week of people’s favorite recipes and sent me his mothers hamburger pie, which I am actually very excited to make because it sounds easy and delicious! :) This was the conversation on twitter: Ingredients: Deep dish frozen pie crust (Mrs. Smith) 1-1.5 pounds of hamburger 1 teaspoon onion powder Salt/pepper (to taste) 2 [Click Comments To Continue]
I have a fabulous friend Chloe who is that friend that you would love to hate because she does everything better than you, but she’s so damn nice you can’t. Seriously: crafting, make up, food, clothing, mothering… you name it, she does it better than 90% of the people I know. (And that’s only because I know some famous people in their genre.) To prove my point, I will show you a picture of Chloe and I from one of the rare nights out that she [Click Comments To Continue]
This morning I faced a tradgey in my kitchen. You see, I had the eggs, cheese, sausage and toast needed for a stellar breakfast. I was ready to begin my breakfast journey when I discovered to my horror that there were NO GRITS in my pantry. How could this be? Whatever would I do? How am I supposed to have a breakfast without grits? You see, anything goes in grits – you can put the cheese, eggs, and sausage in the grits and they [Click Comments To Continue]
Since I live in a frat house, I typically try to make food that pleases everyone because I don’t know how to cook in small portions. One recipe I’ve been messing around with is the idea of non-sweet cupcakes using biscuits instead of cake batter. About a week ago, I used the same basic recipe below, only I filled it with cream of mushroom soup, chicken, and veggies. They were delicious, but didn’t really save as well as I would have hoped because [Click Comments To Continue]
Back when Zack and I were officially a couple, and living together, we almost got the most awesome Christmas present ever. You see, my mom took us to Kohl’s and she used her 30% off and Kohl’s cash to get us the red KitchenAid mixer. You see, every kitchen needs a red KitchenAid mixer – especially one where someone cooks as much as I do. The ability to leave something on the mixer and walk away from it is vastly superior to my Rival hand mixer. [Click Comments To Continue]
This weekend was absolutely crazy but in a good way. Friday night, Zack worked at Jimmy’s like usual, but I did not attend because I was cleaning the house. Saturday, we drove out to Cumberland Maryland because Zack was DJing the Marine Corps Birthday Ball for Bravo company. We had a ridiculous amount of fun, and then drove the 2 1/2 hours back to our house because Sunday I was hosting a Pampered Chef party so that Zack and I could get a stone wear [Click Comments To Continue]
Halloween is just around the corner so in my house that means that every night for the rest of the week, Zack will be carving a pumpkin. So far he’s already done Boo and Mario for me inspired by our recent replay of Super Mario Galaxy. I have absolutely no idea what he’s going to do next – he’s talking about some rock gods for Jimmy’s and doing Jack Skellington for his dad’s work competition. We also have a tiny pumpkin that he’s going to do [Click Comments To Continue]
Back in the day one of my favorite restaurants in DC was the now closed Les Halles. My parents went for the world class steak tar tar, and I mainly went for the banana flambe. In fact, when I lived in Alexandria, it was fairly common for me to hop the metro with a couple of my girlfriends and just hit Les Halles for desert. Anthony Bourdain was the executive chef for the Les Halles brand, and although he had great distain for the DC Les Halles, [Click Comments To Continue]
