About Stephanie

My name is Stephanie.  I’m 27 years old, and I live in Herndon, Virginia in a townhouse with my boyfriend of almost a year.  We used to have a husky named Sonya, but since I started working an office job we didn’t have time for her we gave her to my dad’s best friend, and got a fish tank.  (If you ask me, the trade is somewhat even – sure, the fish can’t cuddle with you, but you’re also not spending hundreds on food and vet bills for the year.)

I work in the IT industry, technically I’m in project management.  I’m extremely good at what I do and often bitch about the fact that I work so fast and have so much down time at work.   In fact, the majority of my day is spent reading webcomics like xkcd, penny-arcade, or CAD.

I am slightly neurotic, often considered a pessimist and I have a tendency to over think things.  And I’ve been blogging for 10 years.

I have a couple friends that you might see mentioned in this blog, so you should learn them now:

This is Zack and I at Beer, Bourbon and Barbeque in DC. See - we were so happy.

Zack is my ex-boyfriend and one of my closest friends.  He’s one of those interesting people who went from crush in middle school, to casual friend in high school, to real friend shortly after college, to one night stand in 2010, to live in boyfriend and now… sleep in friend?  He works at my home bar as the DJ.  (Cue the Esurance “You DJ on the weekends?!” commercial.)  This means that the majority of weeks he doesn’t have any days off.  He typically eats out entirely too much for my tastes.  Zack also has a really cute nickname for me and I still haven’t come up with one for him.

Ashley is one of my best friends and I finally met her in real life in August of 2011.  We’ve been internet BFF since Joey’s “City of Villians” online blogging game, and I wouldn’t trade her for anything in the world.  She doesn’t think I can keep this blog running for more than a month and likes the White Sox.  She’s also mildly upset with me because apparently my post on Gordon Beckham makes her look like a crazy fan and people keep searching for him and finding it.  Whoops!

Brooke and I table singing at Rock-E-Roke

Brooke is my best friend in the area.  You can actually read an entire post about here but what you really need to know is that she is the keeper of all my secrets and the person that I choose to hang out with over everyone else most of the time.  (Even Zack.)  She even has a key to my house – and we’re obsessed with Lego Pirates  for XBox.

Mike is my ex-something prior to Zack.  (See, if I write that we dated I’ll immediately get a message from him saying, “We weren’t dating!”)  Mike is a nerd  like me and we’re actually much better off friends than we ever would have been dating.  He is overly obsessed with Futurama and bondage, so ladies, if you’re in the DC area and those two things turn you on a little, you should check out his okcupid profile.  (That I wrote – because I’m awesome!  But don’t worry, it’s actually him responding.)

Mom and Dad are my parental units. My mom hates me blogging, and she’s been arguing with me about it since I was 17 – it even made a Washington Post article.  Some things never change.

Karen is a co-worker’s of my Dad’s from back in the day.  She is also considered my second mother and I love her bunches and bunches.  If I ever needed to run away from DC, I could fly to her and she would take me in.  Plus, she lives near snowboarding.  She comments on my site too.  :)

As you can see, Rafe parties harder than you do.

Rafe is a backpack that Zack and I take to all concerts and events.  He’s a ninja turtle and parties harder than most people I know.   He prefers camel cigarettes and any beer he can get his hands on.  Also, he is the number one reason random people talk to Zack and I at concerts, typically girls who come up screaming, “Oh my god!  He’s so cute!” and try to dance with him when he’s already on my back.  Since Zack and I broke up, Zack actually took Rafe back and holds him hostage – but he was replaced by an Elmo backpack which I have yet to take a picture of.  I need to hurry up and get on that.

I’m sure there’s a ton of people I’m forgetting – but these are pretty much the ones that I can think of off the top of my head.  I’ll update it as I remember people – or they become important enough to put here… haha
