Why Are Cute Bras and Comfortable Bras Mutually Exclusive?

alessandra-ambrosio-sexy-look-and-cute-bra

Yesterday I went bra shopping.  You see, my old bras were in a sad state of disrepair.  The underwire was starting to come out of the sides and poke me all day, and the padding was warped from one too many washing.  Luckily, my mother had $40 in Kohl’s cash and the elusive 30% off coupon for her Kohl’s credit card.

Upon shopping in the bra section, I saw some of the cutest bras ever.  There were frills and glitter and I imagined how awesome my boobs would look something like that…

Until I saw they were all for A and B cups.

Moving back towards a section for me, 40 DD, I discovered that all the options I had were plain colors.  Pink, nude, black, blue and white to be specific.  There were no frills, there were no glitter.  It was just plain, with an advertisement that said, “Looks great under a teeshirt.”

A quick google search tells me that there are cute bras out for girls with larger tits.  I mean, look for yourself:  Google Image Search for Cute Bras

However, Kohl’s doesn’t have them.  But let me tell you a secret – neither does Victoria’s Secret.  If you walk into any store, they don’t have DD’s in stock – you have to order them from the catalog, and I’m sorry, but I’m not going to buy a bra without trying it on.  Not to mention that their DD stock includes an additional fee for having to buy in such a large size – even higher than their normal bra size.

So, I got my plain bras because having a bra that fits is more important than having a bra that is cute.  In fact, I got four plain bras for $47 which I consider quite a steal.  But I’m thinking about lodging an official complaint.

I got this, in multiple colors. So comfy!

BIG BREASTED WOMEN WANT CUTE BRAS TOO!

Where do you bra shop?

My boobs are tiny and hardly even need support so I just get my bras from Target. They’re not particularly cute but they do come in some nice colors. Despite my small size I find it pretty difficult to find bras that are comfortable too. Once I found one I loved at Target, I went back and bought 3 more.

Interesting – so the itty bitty titty committee has problems to – why are yours uncomfortable? Do you have underwires?

      • beeethanyj

Yeah, I do get underwire bras but it NEVER bothers me. I’ve never had the underwire poke into me. A lot of the smaller bras have lots of padding and try to squish my boobs up to my chin and it’s just not comfortable (looks good though!). And the front center of the bra sometimes feels like it’s pushing into my chest all day long and that gets annoying.

Yeah, the front and center of a bra never does that to me because it’s always like… suspended in thin air between two boobs. The underwire on the side though, that gets me, every time.

A friend told me about Cacique in the back of Lane Bryant. Since LB is a pluz-size store, the bras are all for bigger-chested women, and they are pretty damn cute, too. You should definitely be able to find some lacy silliness. They have periodic BOGO sales, so if you can stand to wait for a sale, you can stock up for around twenty bucks apiece on average. And the clearance rack is always full of awesome trashy push-ups and babydoll sets. There’s one by the B&N right outside Reston Town Center if you want to go sometime. :-)

Oh! Woman! The day after thanksgiving – can T stay with the kids in the morning? Michael’s has SUCH great deals and you are the only person who will be willing to brave the crowds to go there with me.

Check out a line of bras called Panache. The Cleo and Harlequin models are my favorite. The T-Shirt bra is also great, but not as sexy. Balconettes are also nice. They aren’t cheap, BUT they last a long time and are comfortable. I have been wearing them for about 3-4 years now. I just recently had to retire my first purchases due to wear.

You found a bra that lasts 4 years? Jesus.

If you can return the bras, why not order a small sampling around the size you’re looking for (since I imagine one company’s 40DD won’t fit as well as another’s), find the one that works best, then return the others for the fancy styles you’re looking for?

Given the way work’s going today, this blog post has cheered me up (sue me, I’m male). Just remember the old adage: “There are a shortage of perfect breasts in this world. T’would be a shame to damage yours.”

OMG! The princess bride was on the other night. I was so excited!

I saw it on AMC last night. I know they usually cut for time reasons, but cutting any of that movie is a crime…I may have to rewatch it on the Apple TV. :) And I realized I misquoted, it’s “pity” not “shame”…inconceivable I got that wrong!

UGHHH. I seriously could have written this. Target wouldn’t go past C-cup forever. They’re doing better but still not the size I need. I hate that all I can find in my size are those ugly saggy nude ones (you know what I’m talking about) or the ones that feel like you’re wearing a parachute pack all day. Littleboobs can buy cute bras all day long. 5 for $20! ONE good one for me? $60. BS. BS!!

Went to VS one time, told them my size… they laughed. “You can look in the catalog…” HOW KIND. Bitches be hatin’.

EXACTLY. VS are douchey when it comes to us larger chested women. I want to bash their face in. :(
