Brooke Bunter: The Reason Nothing Gets Accomplished In This Country

brooke_bunter

(Mary said I should have entitled this post:  ”Reasons I Don’t Want To Live On The Planet Anymore”)

Yesterday, my facebook blew up.  I was going to take a bunch of screen caps and post the valid points of the conversation but instead, I decided to make it public for all of you to see:  View the thread here

For those of you who don’t want to scroll through the massive wall of text, I’m going to pull out and highlight some of Brooke’s comments for you:

So “hunnii,” please direct your borderline illiterate commentary elsewhere.

Have a good day. Try not to swallow your own tongue in one of your epileptic, incoherent rambles about “liberals bad.”

If my biggest problem is I’m rude to uneducated strangers on the internet, then I consider that a pretty successful life.

I’m rude, condescending, and belittling to willfully blind, disingenuous internet strangers who construct their own reality. What a crime. String me up.

I’m a well-known slacker, underachiever extraordinaire.

Oh, the DSM-IV is fine. Just because I think–given ample evidence–that you’re stupid doesn’t mean I think I’m smarter or better than everyone else. Just smarter and better than you.

And of course I have little regard for your feelings: A) I don’t know you, B) your positions and “support” of them are laughable, and C) I cut my internet argument teeth on Fark.com. I highly recommend you avoid it, delicate flower.

Well Brooke Bunter, I cut my teeth on blogging, and SEO, and you’ll be happy to know that any time a future employer, boyfriend, or friend searches for you in the future, this is the first post they will come up with – so they know exactly what kind of human being you are.

But the real reason for this post is mainly because I think that Brooke Bunter (who went to University of Oklahoma for law school and currently resides in Texas) is pretty much the perfect example of why political discourse in this country is so, so, so, screwed up.  At some point when the internet became popular, it also became popular to be a complete dipshit and treat other humans like crap.  Brooke is a perfect example of this, she admits to not knowing Mary and myself personally, but seeks to diminish our views with vitriol and insults.  In essence  it’s not that dissimilar to the way that high school bullies behave.  Instead of seeking to change our mind through logical and persuasive examples, she attempts it through the equivalent of internet violence.  (Future employers should especially take note of this behavior – because if she doesn’t agree with your client, how will she react to them?)

I have many liberal friends, and I have many conservative friends, and the majority of them I’m able to speak with on a rational level, and sometimes, they actually manage to change my mind with well thought out, convincing arguments.  Unfortunately, people like Brooke are the reason the United States is in such serious decline.  You can’t talk to these people, you can’t reason with them, and you definitely can’t have intelligent conversation with them.

Unless of course, you like being belittled at every turn.

Don’t be like Brooke Bunter internet.  You are better than that.

Edit:  There has been some talk about how Mary was super mean to Brooke.  I introduce to you the first time that Brooke went off on Mary over here:  https://www.facebook.com/stephanieadorman/posts/318206168277261

I’m pretty sure this is the best post you’ve done thus far. <3

You know what’s sad – is I post so much on facebook I can’t find the other one where she went batshit crazy on you.

      • Mareface

LOL It was the abortion discussion.

  • Katie

    SHE DOESN’T EVEN GO HERE!

Way to go, Brooke Bunter. You push cyberbullying on forward. You sly little adult, you. Oh, wait… she handled this like an angsty 13-year-old. Still.

I have to upvote the mean girls quote. Always. haha

    • Mareface

My thoughts exactly! My favorite part was when I politely explained to her that she probably suffered from NPD she retorted essentially calling herself a “well-known slacker, underachiever extrordinaire”. Too bad she says silly things like that to a girl who studied many many people like her. It honestly wasn’t her acting like a 13 year old — it was her actually believing she was superior to everyone in the conversation. Not to mention if you look at her FB page you will notice that all of her pictures either only contain her and her dog (maybe a few of parents), or she is the center of attention in every photo (another NPD sign). I really truly feel it was beyond her control to be that way– which makes me feel very sorry for her.

Have you ever tried to have a rational conversation with a feminist? You get about the same results.

    • http://www.facebook.com/verokennedy Veronica Kennedy

whoa whoa whoa there, buddy. There is a huge difference between that lady (and those like her), and the rest of us feminists. Please don’t put us all in the same boat!

      • http://www.howmanyfrogs.com/ Stephanie Dorman

Not to get into the weeds here, but there’s a huge difference between a feminist today and someone who believes in equal rights for women. Feminist, sadly, has taken a pretty bad connotation over the years.

Mostly because of fringe people. Just like the republicans have their “right wing nut jobs”, the left have people, feminists have people, every cause has an extreme side.

It’s sad most groups let the fringe group represent them.

She went to law school at OU, that should sum it up. Hell, she went to OU in general. Doesn’t take a genius to get in there… Funny post!

    • DoucheNozzle

And where did you go to law school?

      • Paigers

I didn’t, but I almost went to bet school! Putting animals down every day would hurt my heart way too much, so I changed my major!

        • Paigers

          Vet, not bet.

        • DoucheNozzle

OU is a top 100 law school.

Sorry, I couldn’t find a rank for “almost vet school.”

          • http://www.howmanyfrogs.com/ Stephanie Dorman

Wow Brooke. Congrats. I went to Mason. Top 50.

            • Paigers

Lol, Steph! A&M is actually top 10 in their field, not some silly top 100 list. And correct me if I’m wrong, but a friend of mine who went to OU said they were #82? Anywho… Steph, I’m actually going to go to Mason within the year and do what you did! Go Mason! Guess I should learn the mascot before I go, huh?

            • DoucheNozzle

I didn’t know you went to law school!!

              • http://www.howmanyfrogs.com/ Stephanie Dorman

Funny that you don’t know my college history. It’s almost like you know almost nothing about me but you’re a bitch anyway! :)

                • Paigers

Steph’s actually super smart, she just doesn’t handle bs very well. I don’t blame her.

          • Paigers

Texas A&M to be exact. If you can put your own horse down and not have any feelings about it, more props to ya! Being accepted into the school of your dreams and then having to change your major the next day is tough, but shit happens!
