I don’t think there’s a single natural disaster that scares me.  I want to go snowboarding on a volcano. Tornadoes are kinda fun.  Earthquakes are just Earth’s way of shaking things up.  Blizzards are my kind of storm and hurricanes?  They’re just a little rain!  There’s probably something wrong with me that I don’t have a healthy respect for this kind of stuff.  I mean, the worst I’ve ever been scared was at the beach with Amr and the waves were pounding me around when Leslie was off-shore.  Even that didn’t scare me enough not to try and go back in at least once more.  If I had been with someone who was as strong as swimmer as I was, I probably would’ve been more comfortable and said fuck it and stayed in.  (I’m a glutton for punishment, what can I say?)

I have to state that this hurricane I didn’t get all wild and crazy as I normally do, and for that, I’m slightly disappointed in myself.  I mean, in the past I have been known to do the following things in hurricanes:

1.  Go TO the beach.  Yes, most people are evacuating, and I’m driving there.

2.  Chase reporters down in the height of the storm.

3.  Drive in the height of the storm for fun like it’s Mario Cart.

4.  Spend it in a tree-house.   (What the hell was I thinking on that one?!)

This time, all I did was go bowling.  Yeah, I know, kinda lame.  But at least I went bowling during the height of the storm – AND – it was with some totally random dude I met on twitter because of the storm.  (So there’s the added, he could be a psycho hurricane serial killer factor.)  Turns out Ken was actually pretty awesome and not trying to kill me – unless you count the fact that he absolutely murdered me in bowling.

I am absolutely HORRIBLE at bowling. HORRIBLE.

Also, I was totally flippant about the entire thing on facebook and I’m pretty sure that I’m going to hell for some of my posts…

Am I going to hell for this one?

I also watched a ton of NBC 4 – which had me cracking up all day – mostly because of my new hero Wendy Rieger.  Let me assure you, if she wasn’t in Rehoboth the entire time, I would have driven to her just to give her a hug for all the laughs I got, and so you can totally understand WHY I loved her so much, I bring you – the BEST of Wendy Rieger’s reporting during Hurricane Sandy:

For the record, “killing” at bowling was definitely more luck than anything. I’m not some ringer! That said, I forgot to mention, there’s a singles league starting next Wednesday night called “power scoring” – usual rules but if you bowl strikes in the 10th frame, you keep bowling until you miss. 18 week season for $18/week. I’m thinking about it…like we found, it’s a real good workout!

Next storm we’ll try to find something less lame to do. :) It was great to meet you though…that was crazy enough, meeting someone randomly via Twitter via a third party, finding out you’re about 10 minutes from each other, that you were nearly colleagues at work…talk about odds!

Next time it won’t be a hurricane – it will be a blizzard! And I will be snowboarding. Dammit. :)

But for real, it was awesome meeting / hanging out with you. :) I might be in the league… let me check with my schedule and such with work. :)
