I have this friend, Dave Wilburn, whom I met long ago when I was an active member of Fark. Since then, both Dave and I have stopped using Fark as it makes us want to punch infant children – but we’ve remained fairly good friends on facebook. I have him post blog articles of mine to reddit, and he constantly tells me I need to move to Texas and get in his kitchen and make me a sandwich and then get on my knees. It’s a very productive relationship as far as I’m concerned.

Last Friday, he posted the following image to facebook:

I giggled, then wondered what the rational for each of these was and found this post which actually explains what the statistics are for each one. (The only one I really took offense to was the “Worst Drivers” because obviously, the worst drivers come from Maryland.)

The best part was the following comment:

Actually, I had to leave DC out because they were the absolute WORST at so many things (it would have left fewer things to assign to other states). Basically, they have the highest rate of murder, drug use, crime and much more. Here’s a link for a few stats:

apparently the two states I lived in (WA and MA) are the worst at Beastiality and Driving… the driving in MA I definitely agree with …they are called massholes for a reason. Beastiality… well… don’t know about that… never heard about it… lol

Idaho is also known as the worst place to be a Presidential assassin. Not too long ago, an Idaho resident drove up to the White House and fired shots from the side of the street, trying to kill President Obama.

Meanwhile, the POTUS and family were in Hawaii. Even if he was at the window making eye contact with the dude, the bullets wouldn’t penetrate the glass… HURRR DURRR IDAHO.

A little off topic: What’s so bad about Fark? I only read semi-regularly but I am not a member of the community or anything like that. I’m not defending them or anything (I don’t really know anything about the actual community members), I’m more nosy than anything.

As for the map, air pollution in CA is apparently better than it used to be (from what the long-time residents tell me over and over). That’s gotta count for something that CA is the worst at something and that’s an improvement. I doubt Washington can say “Yeah, we have a bestiality problem but it was WAY worse in the 70′s.”

  The problem with Fark is that it’s become a liberal think tank in the last couple years. Back in the day (6 or so years ago) you used to be able to have intelligent discussion on the site – but now there are trolls and people who assume you’re a troll.
