Red Writing Hood – The Forbidden

This week the writing prompt for red writing hood was the forbidden.

You have 450 words to write a fiction or creative non-fiction piece about the forbidden or the taboo.

Keep in mind that those things aren’t necessarily the same for different people in different cultures — just like the concept of freedom. Feel free to explore what’s hidden in the center of that forbidden rose…but be careful of the thorns.

It spoke to me in a volume of ways because right now in my life, I am definitely straddling the forbidden – or at the very least, the bad idea – and I walked into it willingly – knowing the thorns that lie ahead.    I’m frustrated though, because I’m not allowed to write about it really – because you know – it’s forbidden.

So instead, I’ll pose a question to you guys, and you can guess at what I’m doing.

How many of you have dated co-workers?  What was the end result?

I dated a coworker, and it ended because I moved to France. There was no friction at work, and we’re really good friends now (in fact, he just put in a referral for me at his new job, so we may be coworkers again).

See, this is the thing – I very rarely see the horror stories of people dating coworkers and things go terribly wrong and you lose your job. As long as your not management to each other. Even then though, rarely.

the only time it would go wrong would be if you were in a higher position–insubordination is an ethics violation in the military, for example. my ex and i were both supervisors, so no harm, no foul.

I did some fooling around in the office, but never serious dating. It led to tension and us both getting suspended for a week ‘to think things out…’ but nothing felt quite as adventurous as getting a bj with her under my desk (ESPECIALLY since my office was only semi-private!)

Is that a fantasy that every guys has? :-P

Probably. I got to live it, get away with it (mostly) and get gone. Meanwhile, SHE was on Dr Phil earlier this year w/ her family. I think I won out of that scenario…

I haven’t but I’ve heard of it going terribly wrong…. So I tend not to walk that line myself… But to each their own.
