Today, a large number of elderly people will be out and about on the roads in Florida. They will be heading to vote in the republican primary. Their choices are Newt “I have multiple overlapping wives” Gingrich and Mitt “I am part of the establishment” Romney. Who will win? After Newt crushing Romney in South Carolina, no one knows… Why is Florida important? Florida, as a state, has a very diverse electorate and as such, Florida tests [Click Comments To Continue]
I’ve been wrestling with something lately, so I’m going to try and blog about it without any names – however, some of you will know who this is right off the bat. I don’t want you to comment names out of somewhat respect for her, but you are certainly free to comment on the situation as you see fit. I have this ‘friend’, and I use that term very, very loosely because I don’t really hang out with her and never really had a desire too. I don’t [Click Comments To Continue]
I don’t normally post on Saturday – but I feel compelled to write about my afternoon. Today I got a phone call from an old friend, someone I spent a lot of time with and cared about very much in the past. He was calling me because his father was in the hospital and there wasn’t much time. He wanted to know if I wanted to go with him. At first I was torn – in a time like that I felt that the family should be there, but in his voice I heard [Click Comments To Continue]
I’ve alluded in previous posts about a time before all the rest of you bloggers existed in the blogosphere. Actually, it’s a time before the word “blog” was even around – those of us in the scene at the time just had webpages, and we wrote about our daily lives, and our existence as a whole. Other people read, commented and shared in our joy or sorrows. There was no WordPress, for a long time we uploaded everything via FTP (how many of us had [Click Comments To Continue]
One of my favorite things about the bar I visit is that for any sports game in which a staff member is rooting for a specific team, you are able to make a bet with them. The bet is always the same – they will bet you a pie in the face that their team will win. Well, EQ (who is the bartender / manager on duty / DJ extraordinaire) and someone I feel blessed to call of my best friends, is a Duke Blue Devils fan. As a Maryland Terrapins fan through [Click Comments To Continue]
So for the past three months I’ve been footing the bill of the townhouse myself. It’s been pretty daunting considering that it’s $2,000 in rent alone – and then utilities and other bills on top of it. Since it doesn’t look like I was getting relief any time soon I had to start cutting out expenses I didn’t really need. First to go was internet since I can use my phone as a mobile hotspot, plus I have a webconnect USB from T-Mobile. Pretty [Click Comments To Continue]
Mitt Romney released his tax returns after the entire nation clamored for them. Well, actually, Newt tried to attack him with the fact that he hadn’t released them, and Obama of course wanted him to release them because it showed that he’s one of the 1% that the 99% are bothered about. First, before I get into his income tax returns, I want to dispel the myth that Romney was given everything he has by his family. Mitt Romney has said [Click Comments To Continue]
Do any of you live in South Carolina? If you do, I want you to walk out your front door, and smack all your neighbors. Chances are at least one of them voted for Newt Gingrich and anyone else is just collateral damage because hello – your entire state had Newt Gingrich win the republican primary on Saturday. According to exiting polling, the most important value that the people of South Carolina voted on was religion. (How’s that for separation of [Click Comments To Continue]
I’ve come to realization in life that I’m missing something that most other people have in spades. I can actually only feel empathy for others, and not sympathy. Let’s look at some defitions from dictionary.com: sym·pa·thy [sim-puh-thee] noun 1. the fact or power of sharing the feelings of another, especially in sorrow or trouble; fellow feeling, compassion, or commiseration. em·pa·thy [em-puh-thee] noun 1. the intellectual [Click Comments To Continue]
SOPA and PIPA are the hip new words on the internet today – my facebook, my twitter, everyone is talking about it. Websites that I typically look at are blacking themselves out to show you what the internet could look like if SOPA or PIPA passed. They are saying that they are going to be censored and that all forms of censorship are apparently bad. For instance, theoatmeal.com is blacking itself out today in response to this – because it’s showing [Click Comments To Continue]
