I’ve been slightly distressed for the past two days because Zack has a ridiculously cute nickname for me, and I have no nickname for him. You see, Zack calls me “squirrel” or “baby squirrel”. It’s to the point where his friends, and some of my friends even call me squirrel. In fact, my friend Jennifer was highly agitated that the ice luge on my birthday wasn’t a baby squirrel. (In was a Green Bay packers iceluge so I’m really not complaining that much.)
You see, squirrel came about because Zack was telling Faith and I about Squirrel Rock. No – we’re not talking about squirrels actually in a rock band a-la the Chipmonks. We’re talking about the fact that any song which has the word “girl” in it, you can replace with “squirrel” and it still works – and most of the time is infinitely funnier than the original.

I think my favorite to actually sing is Beastie Boys “Girls” because the end of the song becomes:

Squirrels, that’s all I really want is squirrels
Two at a time I want squirrels
With new wave hairdos I want squirrels
I ought to whip out my squirrels, squirrels, squirrels, squirrels, squirrels!
The idea of squirrels with new wave hairdos just cracks me up for hours on end. I mean really, it’s hilarious. But the whole point of this is that Zack calls me baby squirrel, because well, I’m his girl, and if you’re doing squirrel rock, that becomes squirrel. Today I was thinking of making a definitive list of all the songs that are part of squirrel rock – which is where you come in.
What songs can you name off the top of your head that have the word “girl” in them?
